Great game: fun and educational as well. Have a try at being the US president and balance the US budget.
I did well myself: I wiped out the US national debt, achieved budget balance, revived the economy, while beeing a green and health & wellness champion at the same time. And it was surprisingly easy: just a 10% cut in the ridiculous US defense budget, raising the taxes to a much more sensible level and taxing polution for us Europeans gave me loads of money to invest in nice stuff. And it did not even kill the economy, it even revived the economy.

Handy overview of all sites giving online advice for the coming Dutch elections (Dutch only).
24/08: If drugs were legal
Very interesting story / documentary on what might happen if drugs were made legal, accompanied with interviews that certainly provoke to think about the subject.

In case this subject does interest you, two books that I liked on this subject:
Here you can sign a petition to stop the cirus that costs the European citizens EUR 200 million a year: the moving of the parliament seat from Brussels to Strasbourg and vice versa.

Very informative: in this chart you can see exactly where the USA spends its tax income on. You can also see the ridiculous amounts spend on defence: even the total of non-military spending (US$ 383 billion) is less than the total on military spending (US$ 399 billion).
Would be nice if a chart like this would be available of more countries for easy comparison. As an example: in the Netherlands, of a total budget of EUR 147 billion, only EUR 8 billion is spend on the Ministry of Defence (source).

16/08: Democracy lite
Flash animation about the new form of democracy post-US intervention style: Democracy Lite.

During these days it seems that in Holland every populist with a bad haircut can start a new party based on 10 one-liners without any substance as party manifesto.
If you have ambition along the same lines (and speak/read Dutch, sorry this link is Dutch only), you can generate your own manifesto instantly on this site. You can even choose for a left winged, right winged or mixed manifesto.

07/04: Despotism
A very old (1946) instructional video from archive.org about the political factors that lead to despotism. However old, the message still rings very true today.
Quote from the site: Measures how a society ranks on a spectrum stretching from democracy to despotism. Explains how societies and nations can be measured by the degree that power is concentrated and respect for the individual is restricted. Where does your community, state and nation stand on these scales?

23/01: Fox gets owned!
Normally Fox News only has one-sided right wing propaganda. But it seems that even they can not always control their guests expressing their views... in this case on spending over US$ 40 million on the inauguration of Dubya. (Needs Windows Media Player).

22/12: I Can't Wait
I Can't Wait to 2008... finally another chance to get rid of Dubya. Maybe this flash movie gives some inspiration for an alternative.

19/11: Give Bush a brain
Now that 55 million US citizens were crazy enough to re-elect George W. for another four years with the rest of the world unable to do anything about it, at least now the rest of the world can help out by giving Bush a brain ;-)
